Look at your calendar… we’ve made it to the middle of the year! It also looks like this long stretch of scorching summer days, will soon end. But before we enter June’s territory, let me share what the best parts of my month of May looked like.
Chef Andre Chiang and his book, Octaphilosophy
How often does one meet a chef who is the calibre of Andre Chiang?
I met the multi-awarded chef in person at Fully Booked, for the press preview of Chef Andre’s first cookbook, Octaphilosophy. The book presents his “eight elements of gastronomy” — salt, texture, memory, pure, terroir, south, artisan and unique.
And then, I partook in an exciting evening where I also sampled his genius through his dinner at Gallery Vask, a collaboration with our very own Chef Chele Gonzales.
Dean and Deluca’s Pastrami Sandwich
I love simple, comfort food and one Sunday this month, I randomly discovered this Pastrami Sandwich, and it gave me that nice feeling of being “comforted” after a long and tiring week!
This New York deli classic is from Dean and Deluca, and it’s really a simple sandwich – slices of beef pastrami were placed inside two pieces of toasted rye bread, slathered with dijon mustard, topped with emmenthal cheese, and served with potato chips on the side.
Because sometimes, all we really need is a simple but scrumptious meal to make us feel better!
My Daughter’s Ballet Recital
I’m a proud stage mummy! So of course, one of my most favorite things this month was seeing my little girl on stage. It was her second time to dance ballet at the CCP. She is definitely our family’s star performer — and I am simply just proud to be her mummy!
Here’s one short video of my event’s setup a couple of weeks ago!
Are you already on Snapchat? Millenial or not, I think we all need to get on with this new form of social media, a sign of the times that quick and quirky photos and videos are the new rage! It took me a while to get it, but I have to admit that I’m really enjoying it now (0r shall I say that I’m already addicted to it?!) It’s a fun medium where I get to play around and have simple, downright fun, with all those cute effects and crazy filters!
And through Snapchat, I get to share more candid and unedited moments. Sometimes, I repost them on my Instagram feed, but of course to get the full experience, you must see for yourself what’s going on in my Snapchat account! So if you haven’t, I suggest you download the app now, follow me and get to know the real (unedited) me! 🙂
