If this month’s list of favorite things is any indication, you can be sure that this year has not lessened my passion for good food and delicious desserts! In fact, I’m so giddy to have discovered what, apparently, is a well-known ice cream favorite in the city — and so cheap and convenient too!
Let’s dive into January’s highlights, shall we?
Bondi & Bourke’s Australian comfort food
Our recent feature on Bondi & Bourke talked a lot about how its chef-owner, Wade Watson, has created a destination for comfort food featuring Australian staples and favorites. Earlier this month, we had a family dinner to celebrate my sister’s birthday at the restaurant and the chef served up a dessert that was off the menu, but so worth raving about: one of the best Strawberry Shortcakes I’ve ever had!
But aside from that scrumptious Strawberry Shortcake, I have to mention two other standouts from Bondi & Bourke too: its Lamingtons, which is an Australian classic dessert made of sponge cake, with jam, cream, and chocolate syrup or strawberry syrup in the middle, and covered with coconut.
And then their Prime Rib, which is probably one of the best steaks I’ve had in the metro!
US Prime Rib, cooked medium well, seasoned properly with just the right amount of salt and pepper, and of course, with all that glorious fat that make each bite really THAT scrumptious!

Ube Cake from Indulge Patisserie
I’m trying to atone for all my holiday eating during the week, but on weekends, I do treat myself out to a few “necessary indulgent things”. Like this Ube Cake I just discovered from Indulge Patisserie. It’s pillowy soft, fluffy light and not too sweet. It is exactly just what I need to pair with my afternoon coffee!
Green Tea Soft Serve Ice Cream at Family Mart
I love anything matcha! When I was in Japan, it was one of the things I sought out and tried to find — especially in soft serve ice cream form. I found a couple of variants in a 7-11 and at a random Ginza outlet in Tokyo, and at the Hiroshima train station!
It turns out that in Manila, Family Mart is the mecca for a green tea lover like me! I know I’m so late to this matcha party, but I’m so happy to know that this yummy soft serve green tea ice cream is available here. And so cheap at that! P30 only — how else can you beat that?! It’s such a simple but delightful find that I am just so glad I am able to share this “secret find” with you!
Since it’s twirl as much as you can… how high can you go in one twirl?! Share your tips here with me! 🙂
Slim Illusion Jeans from 7 For All Mankind
Who’s on the hunt for that perfect pair of jeans? This is one of the most basic ways to look and feel good, right? And this plus a crisp white shirt, is what my daily uniform looks like. Well, I think I’ve finally found THE RIGHT ONE for me! This black pair has “Slim Illusion” material — it has a tighter construction so the fabric stretches over the body to make one look taller, slimmer, and yes, sexier! (Now, who doesn’t want that?!)
7 For All Mankind has many styles to choose from, because they know that we all have different body shapes and sizes. Their range of jeans are all about premium and quality denim material, effortless sophistication and that perfect fit we all look for in our jeans. I am just glad I discovered them – they understand a real woman’s body! 🙂
