My next Homecooked Goodness feature is quite different from the previous ones. This is actually the first time The Spoiled Mummy is featuring a male homecook on the blog! 🙂

Marco Rodriguez of Xáncho, has always been interested in food. He first tried his hand in cooking back in 1994 and since then has never stopped experimenting with different tastes and flavors in his kitchen. Today, he is known amongst Manila’s tight foodie circle in serving some of the best homemade dishes in private dinners.

Although cooking is not his main job (he works full-time for the family business), cooking is his biggest passion. He says that at the end of a long working day, it is in his home kitchen that he is able to de-stress while cooking his family’s favorite dishes.

He furthered his culinary knowledge by enrolling in ISCAHM to master the basics and technical know-how of cooking. Soon after that, he had the privilege of working briefly in the 1-Michelin starred kitchen of Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian’s restaurant in New York called Country. He was also a food writer having written previously for Rogue and the Best Restaurants Book. 

In spite of his early innate passion for cooking, it was only in December 2013, when Marco finally decided to take the plunge and open his kitchen for orders. He calls his homecooking business, Xáncho –- a name which is of Spanish-Basque origin, having been very much influenced by this type of cuisine even early on. However, he is quick to point out that even though the name is Spanish, his menu is not confined by it. He has Moroccan, Rustic Italian, French, Turkish & Cajun/ Regional American dishes as part of his constantly revolving menu.

Xáncho is perfect for those who are looking for serious, restaurant-quality meals in an instant. Marco prepares these deliciously hearty meals with only the finest quality and freshest ingredients. These are creative and well-thought-of dishes that you can serve in your intimate parties and big celebrations as well.
